“I am the bread of life.”
John 6:35
The Church teaches in Lumen Gentium that the Eucharist is the “source and summit of the Christian faith.” In this sacrament, we encounter Christ himself—his love, his presence, and his saving grace. It is the heart of our life as Catholics.
When we gather for Mass, Christ is with us in a profound way. Through the mystery of his Incarnation and the gift of his Redemption, he draws us close. Receiving Holy Communion strengthens us spiritually, renews our faith, and deepens our union with him. The Eucharist not only unites us with Christ but also binds us together as one Body—the Church—sharing in the same life and mission.
Preparing Children for First Communion
The journey toward First Communion is a beautiful time of growth for children and their families. Preparation takes place over two years and includes participation in both class and Mass. Parents play a central role as the first and most important teachers of faith, and our parish community is here to accompany and support you every step of the way.
Children typically begin this preparation in first grade, but we joyfully welcome older children and those with special needs into sacramental preparation as well. Every child’s path is honored, and every family is supported.
If you would like to register your child or have questions about receiving the First Communion, please contact the Faith Formation Office. We look forward to walking with your family as your child grows in faith and prepares to receive Jesus in this beautiful sacrament.
